I’d be curious to know what % of the readers here are even at the stage of hiring professionals to do a job.
I speak for myself when I say that I’m at the stage where I want to learn how to do everything myself so at least I have a good understanding of what is going on, on my site.

A lot of people hire me because they’re not in the mood or just don’t feel like doing it themselves. If this is their first time setting up a website, I will often offer them free advice on things like SEO if asked. That alone is worth more than measly $5.00 investment.
